Cushion cut diamond rings

Long before the perfectly round-shaped diamonds of today became accessible, cushion cut was used  to shape some of history’s most beautiful and well-known diamonds. For that reason, the cushion cut diamond remains  one of the most timeless and classic shapes in the history of diamonds.  Also known as “pillow-cut” diamonds or “candlelight diamonds” (referring to the way they were cut prior to the invention of electricity). Cushion-cut diamonds exist in a variety of square to rectangular shapes with different length-to-width ratios. .

Amongst  diamond engagement rings, cushion cut is  definitely for a woman of style who wishes to be set apart by her discerning tastes.. Cushion cuts are simply more popular now than they have ever been before.  However, it should be borne in mind  that the Cushion cut is simply a very confusing cut.  There are a whole host of terms specific to cushion cuts that are not always understood by laymen.  Terms such as modified cushions, classic cushions, chunky cushions,  old  square cushions, and rectangular cushions. Let us learn a little more about cushion cut engagement rings. Cushions like radiant-cuts retain their color stronger than any other shape. These shapes are on the opposite end of the spectrum from rounds, which are the best at masking their color.  In view of this, a high grade cushion-cut  (i.e. H color) would be a wiser investment.

People might tell you that you need to buy a standard cushion if you want a “chunky cushion”  and you need to buy a modified cushion if you want a “crushed ice” cushion   The truth about cushion cuts is that it rarely makes any kind of noticeable difference in a cushion cut’s appearance whether it’s standard or modified!

When searching for a cushion cut engagement ring, look for an H color or higher with as low of a clarity grade as possible that’s still eye clean in as large of a diamond as possible that fits your budget!
