How to shine antique rings

It is well known that antique rings differ from modern ones in design, but they always stick to fashion. They can be inherited and preserved as a family heirloom, which is treasured with care and love in memory of a special person. If you’ve received or bought an antique jewelry pieces such as rings, it is important to take certain precautions to keep it as beautiful and shiny as the rest of your jewelry collection.

The most important thing to take care of your antique ring is to perform  well done cleanings with some regularity. First you soak your ring in a bowl with hot water to loosen up the dirt and make cleaning easier; then look for a toothbrush with soft bristles and gently brush where you observe dirty spots; at the end, rinse the ring with fresh water and repeat cleaning if your jewelry piece remains dirty.

The final step is to dry your ring before storing it in its box. Clean it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Then turn it around and blow to remove any residual water. Upon cleaning,  make sure the place where you’re storing your ring does not have any holes. If it does, be sure to cover them. Another good option is to ask your trusted jeweler to recommend a product specially designed to clean antique rings.
