This antique carriage is inspired by 19th century ‘Hansom cab’ named after the British architect who patented the design for the two-wheel carriage in 1834, giving it the nickname ‘ a cab for hire’! This alluring lapel brooch and pendant is hand crafted in 18K yellow and white gold, depicting a miniature two-wheel hansom carriage. The tiny sculptured silhouette of the driver is seen seated in front of the carriage, with open view to the street to take its passengers through the narrow streets. A baguette diamond set on the enameled back of the carriage. Two round-faceted diamonds on both sides simulate the lanterns and four square-cut rubies adorn the rear of the carriage. The artfully designed oval-shaped wheels are rendered in bi-tone gold, while the reverse of the brooch features dual pins of equal length rendered in white gold and a hook to support a chain. It is engraved with ’13’ inside the carriage roof and the lapel brooch is in pristine condition.
